As Business owners we often talk about being motivated to do what we do. In this post we talk about habit vs motivation. Is one better than the other?

At the beginning of each year many 1000’s of people commit to going on a diet, giving up smoking or getting fit.
For the first few days they do great.

Habit vs motivation

They eat well, resist the cravings to eat less cheesecake, light up and they may even join a gym or take up jogging.

That’s motivation.

But after a few weeks (at most) something happens.

Maybe it’s a party, a stressful day at work, or an injury.

And suddenly those good intentions are replaced with the old ways.

That’s (an old) habit.

Now, imagine that you could replace old habits with new habits to actually get you the results you’re looking for.

Maybe that’s loosing weight, stopping smoking or becoming a fiitter, slimmer you.

Or, maybe it’s growing your business and getting the results you’ve been after?

I know you’re motivated.

The fact that you’re reading my emails or visiting my blog tells me that.

So if you’re motivated then why aren’t you getting the results you want?

It’s because you haven’t built (and formed) the right habits (yet).

Habit vs motivation? They are both important, motivation gets you started, but the right habits get you the results you want.
