I read a lot of books. Some of my best ideas have come from books. Over the years books have accounted for the single biggest return on investment that I have made.

These are the books that have made me money one way or another.

What other investment can you make for $20-30 has the potential to add hundreds of thousands to your personal wealth?

“The book you don’t read won’t help”
– Jim Rohn

Of course knowledge is power, but without action it is useless. So whatever knowledge you get from books, you need to make sure you use it.

Maybe it’s an insight. Maybe it’s tactic, lesson or perspective, but It’s only by taking action that the book has made me money.

For each of these books I’ve gained insights, tactics and strategies.

Implementing them has changed my life, given me a new or different perspective and one of the books I credit with inspiring me that move to New Zealand!
I do think that if you can find one takeaway from a book and you remember it afterwards and take action on it then the book is a good book.

To help me remember ideas I have a notebook in Evernote that I store the idea I’ve gotten from the book, but more importantly how I think I can implement it.  I would encourage you to do the same.

To learn as many lessons as possible from books I’ve experimented with a whole bunch of different ways to read faster. My favourite method for speed reading can be found here.

But at the same time, a sense of guilt that I’ve got all of this value for just a few dollars of investment and a few hours of my time to read the books.
