Hi Eric, thanks for this, really appreciated. I’m new to Facebook, so I’m still working out how to use it and what content to put on there as opposed to here and vice versa. Any ideas, much appreciated!

Glad to share an idea or two with you here!
Something to think about is adding just a taste of something really beneficial in your blog to your facebook fans and getting them to visit your blog to find out more.
Maybe even a contest of some kind… Similar to my top 10 favorite blogs but whatever you choose I’m sure will rock.
Good luck!

Just became a fan, re-tweeted too. I think every blog should have a fan page, 350+million active users on facebook makes it the largest social networking site right now, don’t miss the boat!

Hi Keith, thanks for your comment (and becoming a fan!) much appreciated. I was a bit sceptical to be honest, but everyone keeps saying ‘go on, you should be on’, so I’m giving it a go.
Thanks again!

Tried to become a fan but instead sent you a friend request. Where is the fan page? I’m no Facebook pro either.

Very cool, Matthew
I’m interested in hearing what was your motivating factor in setting one up? It seems to be all the rage now but it just seems to be to be a lot of extra work, unless you have a huge following.
Are you going to be benchmarking before and after stats to measure your results from adding a FB page?
Thanks,
Karen

Hi Karen, thanks for your comment.
Like a drip on the forehead, if you get enough of them you realise you’re wet and that, is the story of how I’m on Facebook. It all started with a guest post James had on the Infopreneur a week or so ago on social media and it was one of the top two things to do. I have just been reading crush it by Gary Vaynerchuk and he mentioned that you absolutely must control your brand. So I’ve bitten the bullet and have just started it up to see what happens.
Now I think you’ve overlooked a major point. You are assuming that all visitors are created equal. Even though initially it might not generate a ton of traffic, all it needs is one person to come in that way and either buy a service an ebook or an affiliate for it all to be worthwhile. Plus the reach is the important thing rather than the number of absolute fans or friends.
Yes all stats have been benchmaked to start with, so I’m looking forward to seeing what happens. Also I created a Tumblr account too today (www.bigredtomatocompany.tumblr.com
So, the real answer to your question is let’s see what happens.

Hi Travis, thanks for becoming a fan! Most appreciated!
I think it’s the best thing to do. I’ve now set up Tumblr, Squidoo and Youtube pages. I think you need to get out there.
