Help me name my e-book

Hi,  I need your help.

I’m writing an ebook, well more precisely, a workbook  about achieving your goals. It’s going to be a practical book and is  based on the teachings of Napoleon Hill from his work in writing Think and Grow Rich. I’m looking to launch this on May 19th. There, I’ve said it so, I’ve got to write it now, but I’m struggling with the title.

Can you help me by voting on the title you would buy if you saw it in your local bookstore.

Which ebook would you buy?

I think that “…Dreams” sounds better – a dream is a bit higher level and more universal than a goal IMHO.

    Have a great day sir!

Hi Mark, thanks for your comment here. I agree, with you. Dreams is a higher level than a goal and I think that reflects more what I’m trying to achieve. I’m keeping the word dreams – decided! Thank you!

Just want to let you know why I chose dreams. Dreams has universal appeal and evokes an image of “anything is possible.” The word “goals” has come to be associated with work, logical thinking, missing the mark, etc. Depending on a person’s past experiences with goals, they might have an involuntary aversion. So that’s my 2.5 cents worth on the topic :)

Hi Jean, thanks for your comment here. I think you’re right and that’s definitely worth 2.5 cents! Appreciate you sharing your views.

Good luck with the ebook, Matthew.

It looks like the ‘Dreams’ book is winning, but there are only two choices. You should open this up more to get more title ideas.

Thanks Karen. On reflection I think you’re right. I thought I’d keep it simple and give two choices. But as Alex has pointed out, they are both pretty tame.

    Hi Matthew,
I agree with Karen. I’m not over impressed with either of those choices. It’s not that they’re bad ideas as such, they just don’t reflect the practical nature of your ebook so well. Given that most ebooks aren’t practical workbooks, it feels important to make that distinction.

I need to think about it some more (or more accurately, allow it to percolate a little without consciously thinking about it!) but something along the lines of ‘How to Think & Grow Rich: The Practical Workbook’ or if you didn’t want to include the phrase ‘Think & Grow Rich’ maybe grab a thesaurus and see what you come up with.

I love alliteration so something like ‘Pondering Prosperity’ or ‘Working toward Wealth’ or ‘Actions Toward Affluence: The Practical Workbook’

I’ll give it some more thought ;)

Actions Towards Affluence –> I like. Good idea, El. The other titles are so generic.

Yes! Yes! I get the message!!! I will have a ponder. Thank you! :-)

Hello Eleanor, thanks for taking the time to comment. I can see where you’re coming from on this. I’ll get my thinking cap back on.

Hmmmm, I think I’m with Eleanor and Karen. The 2 proposed titles are decent – but a little generic. Is there a title that would reflect YOUR personality and values? And maybe be a little fun?

I don’t know why you named your blog big red tomato company, but I love the quirky name, and perhaps that’s a good starting point for brainstorming a unique ebook title (y’know, keeping to the theme . . . what’s in the sauce? is your dream ripe for the picking? how to cultivate the juiciest goals? etc.)

Hi Ami, thanks for your comment here. I think you’re right. I’m going back to the drawing board with this title. It is a fun book, but the title doesn’t reflect it.

As to the origins of the name, it’s all here: http://bigredtomatocompany.co.uk/about/2009/08/whats-in-a-name/

    Thanks for stopping by.

I agree with the others that the two options provided are not creative or insightful enough for me. They would be buried in the avalanche of similar topic books due to the name, and you are better than that Matt!
I know you wont use this, but my play on words brain just cant help it, so with that in mind, here is my suggestion for a title:

“the Big Red Tomato Company – helping you squeeze every last drop of success out of your dreams so that you can ketchup to the probloggers”

Ok so that was pretty bad, but you get the idea, inject some personality and brand into the name – You’ve worked bloody hard getting it to this point, ride the wave….

Thanks Alex. I think you’re right here. The titles are just well, boring. I’m definitely going to spice it up a bit. I really appreciate your suggestions with this. I will definitely consider the ketchup to the probloggers bit… think I’ll use that title for one of the promo posts!
