Wednesday Wisdom

It’s been a busy week if you’re an entrepreneur looking to grow your business. There appears to be never ending supply of advice to help you. That’s why we’re here to help.

As usual we’ve got a great selection of really useful to help you take your business to the next level.

So grab a coffee, sit back and enjoy….

Marketing

  1. Have you ever wondered why albums on iTunes were priced at $9.99 / £9.99 for 15 or so songs? Mike Sigers wondered exactly that in his article on selling small and wondered what would happen if ‘mini albums’ were sold featuring 6 songs at $4.99.  A question he raises is could special reports outsell your ebooks?   Could this impact your pricing decisions?
  2. Apparently, rock band Kiss have lent there name to over 3000 products according to Logan Zanelli writing on Ittybiz.com. In his post 10 Marketing Tips from the Gene Simmons School of Marketing he shares some great lessons from the band, including,  market your brand, not what you do, which  is a mantra of The Big Red Tomato Company, so a lot of information in this post is really useful.
  3. Tim Ferris, author of The Four Hour Work Week and the excellent blog of the same name wrote a genius post launching a competition to create an advert to support his new book The Four Hour Body. Genius because not only is it engaging his readership, he’s getting the collective creative talents of his readership to create ads and generate more publicity for the book. Could you do this for your business?
  4. Shirley George Frazier writing on Solo Business Marketing wrote an interesting post on how to recapture sales once a shopper has abandoned their shopping cart in the post how to make recapturing the sale a priority. some ideas that you might want to think about.

Best of the rest

  1. Corbett Barr over at FreePursuits launched a new blog Thinktraffic.net and shares secrets for building blog traffic. He posted an interesting article on why posting less frequently can drive more traffic to your blog and shares his insights which fly in the face of conventional wisdom.
  2. Corbett also did a podcast with Pat Flynn over at SmartPassiveIncome which is well worth your 40 minute time investment to listen to it. One point I picked up is that Guest Posting another popular method of driving traffic is less effective than it used to be. Podcast with Pat Flynn.
  3. Christine Livingston wrote an excellent post over on Virtual Business Lifestyle about Moonlighting Your Way to Running Your Own Show where she shares some great tactics for setting up your own business whilst working for someone else.

So, what about you? What have you found this week that has helped grow your business?

    Matthew,

Sharing the blog post link with your readers on recapturing sales from the SoloBusinessMarketing.com blog is appreciated.

My hope is that anyone who’s perplexed about how to turn a missed opportunity into a new relationship will find potential through this idea.

Great links. I haven’t yet checked them all out but the one that grabbed my attention is about posting less. There are pros and cons of doing that. And it is a careful calculation that needs to be considered.
