8 Reasons Not to Hire A Business Coach

Whilst it is true that a business coach will make you work harder and progress much faster than you would do if you were on your own, a business coach might not be right for you. Even though a business coach can give you the tools and perspective to grow your business, it doesn’t mean you should hire a business coach. Here’s 8 reasons not to hire a business coach:

1. You don’t want to go outside your comfort zone

If you’re the sort of person who is completely happy where they are, and have no desire to grow their business, stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new, then a hiring a business coach is not right for you.

If you have a deeply personal issue that is affecting your relationship with your significant other, or your sense of well being, then you don’t need a business coach, you need a psychologist or counsellor. 

3. You need to learn new technical skills

4. You’re not coachable

Every great sports team has a coach. Coaches help the teams win games, leagues championships.  A business coach will correct you when you’re making mistakes and point how you can do things better. But some people can’t cope with being told their way isn’t the best way. If you don’t like to be told you’re doing something wrong, then don’t hire a business coach.

5. You have more than enough money

A good business coach will help you make more money, through better processes and systems which will allow you take control of your business and make more money. But, if you have more than enough money, you don’t need to hire a business coach.

6. You don’t want to be held accountable

Lets face it you’re a busy business owner. It’s not always easy to deliver on your commitments. And if you’re the sort of person who agrees to things, but doesn’t follow through and doesn’t deliver, then having a business coach to keep you accountable isn’t going to be right for you. Don’t hire a business coach.

7. You aren’t sure what you want out of life or your career

If you don’t know what you want out of life or whether you’re on the right career path, then a business coach is not for you. Don’t hire a business coach.

8. You can’t afford it

If you can’t afford business coaching, then you definitely shouldn’t hire a business coach. Never go into debt for it.  The cost of business coaching can vary greatly from firm to firm. It might be that you don’t even need a long term commitment one hour of business coaching maybe all you need.
